MILWAUKEE – Native American business leaders are in Milwaukee this week, talking about how to push their tribal economy forward.

They call it RES or the “Reservation Economic Summit.”

It’s all about networking and sharing information.

This is also the first opportunity for Potawatomi Hotel and Casino to show off its expanded facility to tribal leaders from throughout the region.

“We’ve grown up for generations trying to make ends meet with very little,” Ernie Stevens, Jr. of Oneida, WI told CBS 58 News. “The Indian gaming market, the tribal market is surviving mostly through hard work and experience.”

Stevens say now that many tribal businesses are emerging from the recession, sustainability also means working with non Native American companies.
